For the past year, I've been lucky enough to have access to a huge private collection of vintage typewriters and other business machines from the last century. Typewriters, calculators, check writers, and cashiers from a time when office machines were designed to be ornamental, as well as functional.
Nearly all of the photographs are in rich black and white, though the central image used to promote the show is (barely) in color.
If you happen to be visiting Long Island this summer, please stop by the Center for Photographic Art at 22 Clinton Avenue, Huntington, and be sure to say hello to the Center's charming and eminently capable director, Ashlee. It's a lovely area, with many galleries and cafes in easy walking distance.
The ten images can be viewed here. All framed photos are available for sale, as well; please contact info@centerforphotographicart.com for a price list.
